Mottarone - the Italian Touge

Mottarone is that mountain in northern Piedmont that rises between Lake Maggiore and Lake D'Orta. Imagine the view on a sunny day. But it's not just about its location; it's also the vegetation, the conifers that line the asphalt, the spaces that open up to panoramic views and then close back into greenery, making it the perfect Touge (aka mountain pass).
You can get there via the classic "Via Mottarone" or the "Strada Privata Borromeo", but be aware that the latter has a toll booth at the bottom. The Tutto Bene Hill climb takes place precisely along this stretch of road.
Local petrolheads call it "Mottaring" and are proud of it; stickers, rallies, motorcyclists – this mountain is a true destination for those who want to enjoy the quality of the miles they rack up.
